The craft

A sanctuary, forged

Workshop: Hyderabad, Telangana

Made by: Wood & Metal

We build: Kitchens and wardrobes

Nothing is: Modular

The workshop floor at the end of a working day

One workshop, two names

La Kova is made in the Wood & Metal factory in Hyderabad, on the same machines and by the same people who have been building there for years. No second site, no outsourced carcases, no partner workshop in another state.

What is different is the brief. Wood & Metal takes on interiors of every kind. La Kova only takes kitchens and wardrobes, which is the whole reason it exists as its own name.

Wood and metal in the same room

Most cabinetmakers buy their hardware in. We do not, because the metal shop is thirty feet from the bench. Pulls, hinges, rails and brackets are made here, in a finish chosen against the timber rather than from a supplier chart.

That is the part of the name people usually miss. Kovati is Slavic for to forge, and it is in there because half of what holds a La Kova room together was heated and hammered rather than ordered.

Mostly through architects

Most of our work arrives through the architect or interior designer already on the project, and we are happy in that position. You keep the client relationship. We work to your drawings and hand back shop drawings you can mark up.

Homeowners come to us directly too. In that case the first conversation is longer, because we are also doing the part an architect would usually have done already.
